Why Higuera Hardwoods Technical Information

What Is a Bamboo?

Bamboo is an extremely fastest growing grass and has been utilized in building construction for many centuries. Architects/builders have designed many innovative techniques used in bamboo architecture.
Bamboo is a known as a large and diverse group of grass with over 1,200 species ranging in all sizes. Bamboo offers one of the ecologically viable choices to standard timber construction today and a viable replacement for wood in the future.

Bamboo grade-A material is only available in approximately 5+ years compared to many hardwoods which may require 50+ years to mature to harvestable age. Bamboo grass is stronger in tensile strength superior to mild steel with stands up to 52,000 pounds of pressure PSI, and bamboo is one of the fastest growing species around which grows up to three feet a day with maximum height of 90 feet .

Unlike trees, bamboo harvest does not kill bamboo forest, or create soil erosion. Bamboo forest does not require replanting. Mature bamboo has an extensive root system that continues to send up new shoot for decades, so harvesting does not harm the plant.

The bamboo we use is the Moso species, our raw materials are only grow in southeast region of China and the mountain regions and is harvested from 5 to 7 years old, at that time the plant reaches 90' in height and 6" to 8" in diameter, Moso bamboo is the hardest species of all the bamboo and we fill is the best for our Grade_ products.

Bamboo is an innovative product for Global environmental solution to home, office and interior designers. Bamboo products are the naturally beautiful as well as environmentally friendly alternative to our dwindling global supply of hardwoods.

Is there any threat to Pandas by using it?
No, the bamboo used to produce flooring is named as Phyllostachys pubescens, which is not the bamboo species for panda’s food. Panda’s favorite food is of a group of bamboo species from genus of Fargesia.
