Manufacturing Adhesives
The adhesives that are used to bond bamboo slats are as important as the quality that Higuera Hardwoods insists upon for the raw bamboo material source which is use in the manufacturing process. Our products have been shown to be extremely strong and the milled blanks or blocks are used to make such a superior product as our flooring, stair parts, mouldings, plywood/panels. We have worked with our own factory personal and partners for more than 9 years to develop exceptionally stabile products that have proven Higuera Hardwoods product lines perform for you.
Higuera Hardwoods LLC currently uses two types of bonding adhesives- phenol-formaldehyde based and formaldehyde free material. Our manufacturing adhesives emit 0.03 ppm or less of formaldehyde, less than allowed by U.S. OSHA, European E1 standard and contain no Urea Formaldehyde.
Because many of the most durable and use feasible adhesives contain different types of formaldehyde, one of the wood manufactures ongoing dilemma is to make adhesives more environmentally friendly while maintaining high levels of performance. One widely accepted benchmark is the LEED® Green Building Rating System™ IEQ Credit 4.4: Low-Emitting Materials which we qualify for under the current rules as we use no-urea.
Note: while it might not seem logical to use our formaldehyde adhesive to construct all of our products, the Formaldehyde-free material is very costly and most importantly it is not proven to provide the durability and quality we require on all of our product lines.
